Otrivine is a nasal decongestant based on xylometazoline (1mg \/ ml). In the event of a blocked nose due to a cold or sinusitis, Otrivine 1mg \/ ml: \u2022 Clear the nose in a few minutes. \u2022 Relieves up to 10 hours. \u2022 Helps prevent irritation of the nasal mucosa. \u2022 Use from 12 years old. \u2022 Xylometazoline has no influence on the function of the ciliary epithelium.<\/p>\n
The presence of sorbitol and methylhydroxypropylcellulose as excipients in Otrivine may help prevent dryness of the nasal mucosa.<\/p>\n
Indication
\nnon-allergic rhinitis (head colds)
\nseasonal and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis
\nsinusitis (facilitates the elimination of secretions)
\notitis media (as an adjunct to nasopharyngeal decongestion)<\/p>\n
Short-term symptomatic treatment (maximum 3 to 5 days) of nasal congestion in certain conditions such as: – non-allergic rhinitis (head cold) – seasonal and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis – sinusitis (facilitates the elimination of secretions ) – otitis media (as an adjuvant for nasopharyngeal decongestion)<\/p>\n
The excipients sorbitol and methylhydroxypropylcellulose present in Otrivine can help prevent dryness of the nasal mucosa.<\/p>\n
Like all nasal preparations containing a vasoconstrictor, Otrivine cannot be used as maintenance treatment.<\/p>\n
Otrivine 1 mg \/ ml is intended for adults and children from 12 years of age.<\/p>\n
Use
\nAdults and children over 6 years old<\/p>\n
1 spray in each nostril, 1 to 2 x per day
\nMinimum interval between 2 applications: 4 to 6 hours<\/p>\n
Nasal use Otrivine 1 mg \/ ml solution for nasal instillation for adults and children from 12 years old: – 2 to 4 drops in each nostril, – 3 times a day – between 2 administrations – an interval of 8 to 10 must be observed hours – no more than 3 administrations per nostril per day.<\/p>\n
Using the nasal instillation solution: 1. Blow your nose. 2. Tilt your head as far back as possible – as far as it is comfortable – or, if you are lying in a bed, let your head hang over the edge of the bed. 3. Administer the drops into each nostril and keep the head tilted back for a little while, so that the drops can be distributed throughout the nasal cavity. 4. Clean the dropper and allow it to dry before placing it back in the bottle.<\/p>\n
To prevent possible spread of infection, the vial can only be used by 1 person.<\/p>\n
Composition
\nOtrivine, 1 mg \/ ml, solution: Xylometazoline hydrochloride 1 mg per ml (which corresponds to 0.87 mg \/ ml xylometazoline). (25 \u00b5g of xylometazoline hydrochloride per drop, 40 drops per ml, 140 \u00b5g of xylometazoline hydrochloride per spray).<\/p>\n
