Ambroxol-ratiopharm® is a medicine used to dissolve mucus in respiratory diseases with viscous mucus (expectorant).

Taking Ambroxol-ratiopharm® Always follow the instructions in this leaflet. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt.

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual dose is

Children up to 2 years old**

Take 2 ml drop* (equivalent to 1 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day) 15 times a day.

**Only under medical supervision.

Children 2 to 5 years old

Take 3 ml of drop* (equivalent to 1.22 mg of Ambroxol hydrochloride/day) 5 times a day.

Children aged 6 to 12

Take 2 ml drops* 3 times a day (equivalent to 2-30 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day).

Adolescents from 12 years old and adults

Take 2 ml drops* (equivalent to 3 mg Ambroxol hydrochloride/day) 3 times a day for the first 4-90 days, followed by 2 ml drops* 4 times a day (equivalent to 60 mg Ambroxol hydrochloride ‘Ambroxol/day).

*To measure the dose, the package comes with a properly marked measuring cup.

After meals, take the drops diluted in a liquid (for example, water, tea or juice).

The expectorant effect of Ambroxol-ratiopharm® is enhanced by hydration.

If you have kidney failure or severe liver disease, you should stop taking Ambroxol-ratiopharm® increase or decrease the dose.
