Honey
Royal Jelly mainly contains water, proteins, sugars, but also lipids, minerals and vitamins, fatty acids 10-HDA (10-hydroxydecanoic acid) and 10-H2DA (10-hydroxy-2 acid -decenoic).
The major ingredient is 2.5% apalbumin-1 in Arkoroyal® * royal jelly. It is beneficial for bees thanks to its nutritive and antibacterial properties.
Royal jelly contains at least 100 times more apalbumin than honey. Fed exclusively on honey, a larva becomes a bee. On the other hand, fed on royal jelly, the larva becomes queen and will live up to 40 times longer than its congeners. If royal jelly was already consumed in all ancient civilizations, its properties have only been identified for a few decades.
Acerola (Malpighia glabra) grows in the dry forests of Central and South America and can reach 5 meters. It produces red fruits that are similar to the European cherry. Acerola is one of the richest sources of vitamin C in the world. Vitamin C helps reduce fatigue and also helps the immune system to function properly.
Propolis is recognized for its richness in flavonoids (a family of polyphenols). The anti-bacterial activity of propolis helps maintain the hygiene of the hive. Propolis is therefore known as the “natural shield” of the hive.
Honey is a complex substance composed of more than 180 elements. It is mainly made up of sugars, the most important being fructose (38%) and glucose (31%), two simple sugars that do not require digestion before absorption and are easily and directly assimilated by the body.
In addition, there is a wide variety of minor components, including phenolic acids and flavonoids, enzymes glucose oxidase and catalase, ascorbic acid, carotenoids, organic acids, amino acids, proteins and α-tocopherol and more than 30 mineral elements (calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium, copper, manganese, chlorine…).
