Warning: additional information regarding people allergic to hymenoptera venoms:
Allergic reactions are potentially serious with a risk of death from anaphylactic shock (in France 10 to 20 deaths per year). The ASPIVENIN® anti-venom pump helps reduce the quantity of venom but does not prevent the acute allergic reaction (angioedema, etc.). So, for people with allergies, you should remember to have an emergency kit with a protocol to follow in the event of a sting:
take an antihistamine tablet
in the event of an abnormal reaction: take another antihistamine tablet with a corticosteroid and contact the doctor or emergency center.
in the event of premonitory signs of anaphylactic shock (profuse sweating, widespread itching, respiratory oppression, tightness in the chest, throat edema with difficulty speaking, swallowing or breathing, discomfort, etc.), using an auto-injector pen, give an injection of adrenaline on the anterolateral side of the thigh and remain lying with legs elevated until the doctor arrives.
