Daktozin is a medicine for external use against diaper dermatitis. It contains a medicine against fungi (miconazole nitrate) and a medicine with local protective action (zinc oxide). The ointment adheres well and durably to the skin and protects it against the irritating effect of urine and stool. So fungi and bacteria are quickly destroyed and the skin recovers quickly.
Daktozin is indicated in babies and young children for the treatment of dry and wet forms of inflammation of the skin which occurs when urine and stools remain in contact with the skin in the diaper for too long (dermatitis diapers). It is not uncommon for an additional infection caused by fungi to occur here.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt. Daktozin is to be applied to the entire inflamed surface after each change of diaper, and after bathing. Before application, it is necessary – if necessary – to cleanse the skin with lukewarm water and dry it gently. Then, gently apply the ointment with your fingertips (without rubbing to penetrate).
The use of the ointment does not exclude the usual precautionary measures: the use of non-hermetic (disposable) diapers and the frequent change of diapers are very important. Inflamed skin cannot be cleansed using scented lotions, soaps, or shampoos.
You should treat your baby or toddler for at least a week after all signs and symptoms have disappeared.

What Daktozin contains
The active substances are miconazole nitrate and zinc oxide. One gram of ointment contains 2.5 mg of miconazole nitrate and 150 mg of zinc oxide.
The other ingredients are white petrolatum, trihydroxystearin and lilac fragrance (contains allergens, see section 2: Daktozin contains a fragrance containing
allergens.).
