With the return of spring and sunny days, ticks are making their comeback … Be vigilant and therefore protect yourself, but also your animals.

Ticks are all the more present in tall grasses, ferns, forests and shady places. You must therefore be careful when returning from your walks or picnics.

The 4 key words to remember are: PREVENT-INSPECT-REACT and MONITOR

-Prevent: The ideal is to wear as much clothing as possible that covers your body as much as possible (long sleeves, pants, high shoes, etc.). The use of tick repellents is of course recommended!

-Inspect: After your return from your walk or just from your garden, you must carefully inspect the whole body from top to bottom, paying particular attention to the neck area and behind the ears.

-React: In the event of a bite, you must react as quickly as possible and therefore remove the tick with suitable forceps or a tick card. BE CAREFUL, do not compress the body, the ideal is to “unscrew” the tick to extract it, it is also necessary to disinfect the bite area well after extraction.

-Monitor: You will then need to monitor the bite area for 30 days. If redness appears and grows or if a flu-like condition sets in, you should contact your general practitioner.
